RCS Service
Rich Communication Services (RCS) is the next-generation messaging standard that enables Government departments to deliver rich, interactive, and branded messages directly to citizens' default messaging app — without requiring them to install a separate application.
Use Case
- Citizen Alerts & Notifications: Deliver rich-formatted alerts with images, action buttons, and quick replies directly to citizens.
- Service Updates: Send branded transactional updates such as application status, appointment confirmations, or payment receipts.
- Two-Way Interaction: Allow citizens to respond, confirm, or request information through interactive message flows.
RCS Message Types
Plain Text
rcs_singleSimple text-based RCS messages without rich media. Ideal for basic notifications and informational alerts where formatting is not required.
One Way
rcs_a2pApplication-to-Person (A2P) messaging. Government department sends rich messages to citizens — images, cards, and action buttons — with no reply expected from the citizen.
Two Way
rcs_p2aPerson-to-Application (P2A) messaging. Enables a full two-way conversation between citizens and the government system through quick replies, suggested actions, and interactive flows.
Prerequisites for RCS Service Registration
- Account is mandatory on services.mgov.gov.in.
